| Day of Silence Held in mid April every year, the official website (www.dayofsilence.org) states that the Day of Silence is a group of “concerned students, from middle school to college, take some form of a vow of silence to bring attention to the name-calling, bullying and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) students and their allies.” The movement began in 1996. The 2009 date for the Day of Silence is April 17. |
