Service
Philanthropy is a foundation of Greek life. By helping make the lives of others better, Greeks make their own college experiences better and learn important lessons about the values and ideals of their organizations.
Panhellenic sororites are leaders in community service. Annual sorority service projects are campus traditions. Each sorority hosts a philanthropy week filled with activities for Greeks and non Greeks alike to participate and raise money for their specific cause. Chapters also lend their support to Combat Hunger, among other varying campus osted fundraising opportunities. Participation in others' causes encourages unity and expands the breath of service opportunities.
Social
Sorority members are always kept busy with all the social events that occur throughout the year. Chapters have fun at parties, meet other Greeks during crushes, and participate in great events all year long. From formals to hanging out at the houses, sorority members get more opportunities to enjoy the college experience than other students.
The social benefits of sorority membership also extend beyond just fun. Sorority members have opportunities to mature and develop socially that can put them ahead of their peers. Chapters emphasize professional skills like networking, interviewing for jobs, and other professional talents to help give their members an edge in post-collegiate life. Great networking connections are built during Greek oriented social events!
Scholastic
Grades are of the utmost importance to sorority members. The chapter's first priority is for all members to be academically successful. From the time a woman joins, she receives close support for all of her classes. If she struggles, each Panhellenic sorority has mentor programs, study groups, study hours, sessions on study skills, and other tools to help her succeed.
With such emphasis placed on excelling in the classroom, its no surprise that Greeks consistently receive higher grades that others on campus. At Drake, sorority members also pride themselves on being involved in nearly every organization available. Whether they are a PMAC, Student Ambassador, or Orientation Leader, there will almost always be a member of the Greek system there.
Sisterhood
Greek life is ultimately about forming life-long friendships. Sorority members have the privilege of sharing the college experience with a closer circle of friends than non-members can enjoy.
Through sisterhood and social events, shared experiences, and participation in rituals and traditions, members move beyond friendship and become sisters. For this reason, sorority members join for life and remain close long after college is over. And, with so many Panhellenic alumni in the world, no matter where you are, either in personal or professional life, you are sure to be close to other sisters.
