Student Producer Roles
The Drake Relays Broadcast is the largest student run production. The production team, made up of an executive producer in addition to a coordinating, technical, and content producer with their assistant with a sales director, work extremely hard to put together a production that the university can take pride in. This is what each producer does.
Executive Producer:
Head of the broadcast. Everything must go through the executive producer. In charge of bringing all aspects of the production together. Works with Athletics and Mediacom to arrange broadcast schedule and exact details for everything that will happen the day of the broadcast. Oversees everyone else to make sure they stay on task and get their job done.
Coordinating/Assistant:
Works closely with executive producer to help with coordinating and making sure everyone on the production team is operating with the same goals. In charge of communication amongst the broadcast. . Aids in preparing talent and coordinating day of the event to ensure everything runs smoothly and that people are where they need to be. Oversees sales director.
Technical/Assistant:
In charge of building all graphics including athlete profiles, flashbacks, ticker and other. The technical producer also heads up additional promotional packages and commercials. Prepares the cables pulling plan.
Content/ Assistant:
Determines the theme and drive of the broadcast and what information is essential for the focus of the broadcast. Finds information and facts to fill the broadcast. Decides which athletes to profile and researches their information that will be put into the graphics.
Sales Director:
Sells advertising for the broadcast and arranges for food trades to supply the crew with meals.
