Drake's radio station became 94.1 The Dog on August 22, 2006. Prior to it's FM frequency, The Dog was known as KDCS Bulldog Radio, Today's Music with New Music First and it was only aired on campus TV and webstreaming online. KDCS Bulldog Radio was born on May 15, 2000.

94.1 The Dog is used as a lab setting for JMC-057 "Broadcast Methods" classes.
As freshmen or sophomores, all Drake students majoring in Radio/TV Production
or Broadcast News (which make up Drake's E-Media department) will
take JMC-057 and produce/host their own broadcasts. |
In addition to class use, 94.1 The Dog is used by the Drake
Broadcasting System (DBS) to produce entertaining, enlightening,
and informative radio shows. The Dog Programming Board is a subsidiary of
the Drake Broadcasting System, with the DBS President overseeing
the radio operations.
94.1 The Dog is operated by the Drake University School of
Journalism and Mass Communication. Radio programs are broadcast on 94.1 FM and
throughout Drake's campus on TV channel 12 and the world wide web
