A year and a half in the making, the new
studio is finally complete.
The summer of 2003 saw the renovation of the first floor of the Drake
University Olmsted Center into the Pomerantz Student Union. With this
renovation, KDCS was given a small room in which to build a studio.
After fundraising and approaching student senate for a few extra bucks,
construction began. On January 18, 2005, the new studio went online.
Below is a photo tour of the project. The KDCS
History page will give
you a full history of how the new studio developed.
The studio when classes resumed in the fall of 2003.
In October 2004, destruction began in order to make way for the new
gear.

The original studio configuration. This was always meant to be a
temporary studio (hence the crazy wires). Using a live sound
mixing board as the console, the studio opened for student use
in March 2004.

It took nearly every piece of Scott and Carl's tool sets to complete
the installation of the studio.
