Mission Statement

The Drake Broadcasting System (DBS) is an organization of students dedicated to learning and teaching radio and television broadcasting. As a student organization of Drake University, we work closely with faculty and staff to produce quality programming while providing relevant experience to our members.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 The DBS organization as a whole provides an invaluable experience to Drake students of all classifications. From the very start of freshman year, students can get firsthand experience in the radio and/or television fields, many times even before the student takes a journalism course!

No Experience Necessary!

DBS takes great pride in knowing we are able to teach students right from the beginning. There are many students that come into our organization having never held a camera. We enjoy the opportunity to give students a camera and send them out on a shoot with other students. Most have never been a part of a radio station before, but we'll throw them right into the booth where they can have their own show. While we do train our members to a certain extent, we believe in "Learn by doing."

Not only is the Drake Broadcasting System a great group to be a part of, but it's also a great deal of fun. Life's not all about work, ya know!
